“Vaulting is the most natural and least dangerous manner of mounting and dismounting from a horse” (Baptiste Loiset, The Art Rider [1826])
Our vaulting lessons are run by qualified international vaulting instructors, assisted by experience competitive vaulters. We offer general vaulting lessons for groups of no more than eight vaulters: these are open to athletic children from the age of five and up – no riding experience is necessary.
We have recently started a boys-only vaulting class, but it is still quite small and we are hoping more boys will join soon. Riba has three vaulting teams. Our A-grade team has been competing internationally since 2006, when they vaulted at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen. Our D-grade team has achieved only first and second places at SA Champs since 2006, and our E-grade team is newly-started and hoping to compete at SA Champs this year.

Soweto Vaulting Club currently trains at Riba and vaults on Riba’s horses. Their team has also done very well over the past years, and came first in the E-grade team event at SA Champs last year.

Riba also arranges vaulting clinics for vaulters and trainers: details will be given in the Dates to Diarise section of this web-page. Vaulters can also ask their instructor if they would like a clinic to be organised.
